More than six hundred thousand people evacuated as the tropical storm Fung-wong hit China's south-eastern coast late Monday. The typhoon weakened to a tropical storm as it landed outside Fuqing city in Fujian province bringing strong winds and heavy rains that left two poeple dead. Dozens of flights were also canceled at the province's Fuzhou airport. Power was cut off in Fujian's Puxia county as 15 electricity transmission lines and 498 transformer stations were damaged.
